Hosting provider NetHosting investigates high-end online retailer ideeli in its latest case study.

NetHosting reports that ideeli.com, developed in 2007, was originally intended to be a marketing platform for high-end brands to showcase its wares. However, ideeli’s founder Paul Hurley quickly revamped the business model to provide luxury clothing and accessories at discounts up to 80%. In 2011, Inc. 500 named ideeli the fastest growing company in America, and today they stand at over six million members.

Every day at 11 am Eastern Standard Time, ideeli releases a new “flash sale.” Most of its sales are scheduled to last about 40 hours, and many close after minutes when its inventory becomes exhausted. In fact, ideeli receives 40 times as much traffic during peak sale hours as it does during slow times.
