Data Security

NetHosing is Serious About Data Security

You may get a great price and great connection speeds to your server but if that hosting provider can’t ensure that your data will be secure through every means possible then are you really getting your money’s worth? Here at NetHosting, we think that if you’re not getting top-of-the-line data security, then you’re not getting the best hosting experience that you could be.

Here are four standards of data security that every business should expect from their hosting provider and that you can expect from NetHosting:

  • NetHosting’s data center is monitored twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week by support staff via real-time IP cameras.
  • Every door to NetHosting’s data center is only passable through a biometric scanner and a specially coded access card.
  • Because every server cabinet is under lock and key, no unauthorized personnel can gain access to individual servers.
  • Our data center has been SAS 70 Type II certified for years now, as any data center you store your business data with should be.

At NetHosting, we don’t think these four aspects of security are just hoops to jump through. We are eager to prove to our customers how important data security is to us through all of the security features we implement throughout all of our facility. Your data security is our number one priority.

Risk-Free Data Center

With a website to host and a business to run, you have enough to worry about without also wondering if the data center housing your content is able to withstand natural disasters. Choose a hosting provider that worries about the unknown so you don’t have to; host your data at NetHosting and put your mind at ease.

The biggest threats to data centers in Utah are liquefaction, floods, and whether or not emergency services could respond in time. Read below to find out how NetHosting’s data center is prepared to meet any disaster and not only stay standing but keep delivering you outstanding service.

Liquefaction Rating (Very Low)

Liquefaction is the name given to soil that becomes so aerated and unstable it acts like a fluid during an earthquake. Naturally, any building sitting on the ground with a high liquefaction rating is not the safest spot to host your data. Here at NetHosting, we carefully studied our building site options to make sure we built on the sturdiest ground possible. That not only makes us safe, it makes your data safe, and that is our number one priority.

Flood Rating (Very Low)

With a data center built in a desert, it’s important to be prepared for heavy flooding that can hit hard and fast. That’s why we at NetHosting didn’t take our potential flood rating lightly when we chose where to build our data center. Far away from the local river and on top of a hill, our facility is almost completely impervious to flooding.

Emergency Services

Our top of the line security is the best defense against intrusion in our data center. With biometric scanning at every door in addition to access cards and 24/7 live security cameras, the only danger left that we might need emergency services for is in case of a fire emergency. With your data in mind, we chose a location for our facility that was within two miles of multiple fire and police stations to ensure the quickest response time from emergency personnel, and to ensure the highest level of confidence from our customers.

A lot of thought goes into where you store your personal documents in your home and the type of file cabinet you put those documents in. The same amount of consideration should go into where you keep your digital documents.

Choose to host with NetHosting to ensure your data is housed in the safest possible location, with the best possible support, at the most affordable price. To read more about the high security you can expect while hosting with NetHosting, click any of the links below.

PCI Compliant

NetHosting is a 100% Compliant Data Center

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) was instituted by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) to strengthen credit card data security amongst merchants worldwide.

The PCI SSC was formed in 2006 by the five major credit card companies (AMEX, Discover, Visa, MasterCard, and JCB International) to combat the growing threat of identity theft and cyber crime with a standardized set of protocols for merchants called the PCI DSS. A company is deemed “PCI Compliant” when it meets these standards and receives certification from a PCI accredited auditor. NetHosting became PCI Compliant in 2009 and has maintained its certification ever since.

PCI has six objectives:

Network Security

The network is protected from outside threats or corruption.

Protected Credit Card Processing

Cardholder data is stored and transmitted securely.

Invulnerable Infrastructure

Access to data is controlled and selective.

Secure Data Access Policies

The network is protected from outside threats or corruption.

Strong System Security

The system is regularly scanned and closely monitored for security breaches.

Employee Security Awareness

Company-wide information security policies are present and enforced.

Any company processing or storing credit card information must be compliant with the PCI DSS or be subject to hefty fines as well as the daily risk of a security breach. By performing annual audits to maintain compliance, merchant companies can stay a step ahead of identity thieves and cyber criminals, who are constantly adapting their tactics to exploit weak or outdated systems and procedures. The PCI SSC strives to stay up-to-date with the most current threats and implements defenses across the board by evolving the PCI standards and offering newer tools and strategies.

By choosing a PCI compliant company like NetHosting, you can be sure that your data is stored in a location that has been evaluated and approved by a third-party auditor.
